How to #BeBavarian with Bingemans
It’s been a minute, I know, but remember that I am worthy of personal time (and so are you). I’ve been trying to find the right work/life balance, and sometimes that requires letting some things fall by the wayside, at least temporarily.
While on a walk today, Adrian and I came across a bridge that was decorated with quotes designed to focus on spreading positivity and mental health awareness to the city of Waterloo. The project was organized by Bridges of Hope, and a few of the quotes really stuck with me. One in particular said to “Live your best life, not somebody else’s idea of it”, and that’s exactly what I’ve been striving to do.
For the last two or so years, weekends have been a mountain to tackle, rather than a relaxing break from my busy life. So, in attempts to change my own personal bias towards weekends, I decided to spend the last few days how I envision weekends are supposed to be spent. Friday nights spent celebrating the end of a busy work week, Saturdays spent recovering from the previous night of celebration, and Sundays spent leisurely preparing to head back to work on Monday.
To help celebrate this new found understanding of weekends, along with a culture that is all about maxing and relaxing with a big pint of beer and your favourite carby snack, I headed over to Waterloo’s Oktoberfest at Bingemans. A fall festival that pays homage to quintessential Bavarian culture, spanning across two weekends in October, Oktoberfest at Bingemans is the ultimate destination for families and friends alike. From traditional Bavarian Feasts, to Axe Throwing, and so much more, there is literally something there for everyone.
Learning how to tap kegs the Bavarian way and jamming along with Germany’s leading OOMpah/rock style band, Dorfrocker are just two of the activities that you can partake in at Bingemans Oktoberfest celebration. However, the fun doesn’t have to stop there. To get the most out of your experience, Bingemans recommends breaking out the lederhosen (gotta look the part), getting familiar with Oktoberfest songs (to sing along with the rest of the crowd), and learning a few key German words (as if you were celebrating in Munich).
And while Oktoberfest 2019 has come and gone, you can still celebrate the fall season at Bingemans for one more weekend. Screampark is their rendition of a heart pumping, hair-raising, bloodcurdling Halloween experience; full of spooky themed rides and attractions. Get your tickets for 4 different haunted houses, 3 nightmarish rides, and a ton of other terrifying (and delicious) activities by clicking here. Going as a group? There are group discount rates for parties of 15+ people.
Thank you to Bingemans for teaching me how to #BeBavarian this weekend, and for helping me to redefine how weekends should be celebrated! Have you been to any Oktoberfest celebrations? Or are you too busy preparing for spooky-season? Let me know your favourite thing about fall in the comments below!
